Okay, this time around we are going with a hysterical curiosity from the legendary David Lee Roth. Somehow or another, following the release of his debut solo full length effort, “Eat ’Em and Smile,” his bass player talked him into recording a Spanish language version of the same album. This stroke of genius dropped Sonrisa Salvaje into our midst, for which we are eternally grateful.
Crazily enough, this entire album was pressed on vinyl and cassette both, though swiftly taken out of print (although it was later issued on CD, apparently, in 2007!). If you listen closely, you can hear the distinctive vinyl album crackle at the beginning, from whoever uploaded this to Youtube. Anyway, although the musical backing tracks are the same, Diamond Dave re-recorded all his vocals for this project. So if you’ve ever wondered what “Tobacco Road” would sound like if sung in Spanish, here’s your chance…
